Elliott Bristow’s remarkable Retro Road Trips DVD now available

November 5th, 2008 · No Comments

I’m pleased to announce that Elliott Bristow’s Retro Road Trips DVD is now available for purchase.

Elliott Bristow took a remarkable 8mm film diary of his travels around the United States between 1968 and 1982. Selected films were used in his Road Dreams series on Channel 4 in the early 90s. Since then there has been no opportunity for people to obtain a copy these remarkable film diaries, apart from acquiring off-air versions taped by Road Dreams fans.

But from this evening Road Dreams - reborn as Retro Road Trips - can be puchased on DVD. The shop went live at 7.15pm UK time, coincidentally on the day of the US presidential election.

So what’s the connection with Eye On Manchester? Well, I worked with Elliott Bristow in New York in 1981 but only made contact with him again a few years ago. On the basis of my web design expertise, he commissioned me to put together his www.retroroadtrips.com website and provide him with the benefit of my 12 years experience of publishing and selling online.

Over the past year or so, he has been working extremely hard to prepare the DVD and related products, all superbly presented and packaged to the highest possible standards. I worked hard to create the website to his specifications, and this evening, months of work culminated in the Retro Road Trips shop pages going live.

Having travelled across America a few times, and with an interest in things nostalgic, I can really identify with these films. I am both his web design consultant and a big fan of his work. There is definitely a crossover between still photography his unique style of cinematography.

Already the orders are starting to come in and who knows, he may soon run out of copies, so if you’d like to take a glimpse into a lost world of nostalgic Americana, take a look at www.retroroadtrips now.
